About

We believe investing should be boring

Most personal finance content is built to keep you engaged — more articles, more comparisons, more things to optimize. We think that’s backwards. The best investing strategy is usually the one you can set up once and stop thinking about. That’s the whole premise behind this site: less tinkering, better outcomes.

JustSetAndForget exists for people who want their money working correctly in the background while they focus on everything else in their life.

What we cover

We write about the tools and accounts that make hands-off investing actually possible:

  • Robo-advisors — how they work, what they really cost, and when a human advisor or a simple index fund beats them
  • Cash management — high-yield savings accounts, CDs, and money market funds, and how to tell which one actually fits your situation
  • Passive investing fundamentals — dollar-cost averaging, rebalancing, and the unglamorous habits that build wealth over decades

We’re not chasing hot stock picks or timing the market. If a topic requires daily attention to get right, it’s probably not something we’ll recommend.

How we approach a topic

Before we publish a comparison or a recommendation, we ask the same three questions:

  1. Does this actually reduce effort, or just add another decision? A lot of “optimization” advice creates more work than it saves. We only recommend something if the ongoing effort is genuinely lower once it’s set up.
  2. What’s the honest tradeoff? Every account, fund, or platform we cover has a catch — a fee, a liquidity limit, a risk that’s easy to gloss over. We try to name it plainly instead of burying it.
  3. Would we actually use this? If a product only makes sense for an affiliate commission and not for the reader, we don’t write it up as a recommendation.

How we make money

Some of the products we mention — robo-advisors, banks, brokerages — may include affiliate links, which means we can earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. This never determines which products we compare or how favorably we describe them. Where it applies, it’s disclosed directly on the page.

What we’re not

We’re not financial advisors, and nothing on this site is personalized financial advice. We’re an independent publication for people who want clear, practical information about passive investing — the kind of thing you’d want a knowledgeable friend to explain before you open an account. For decisions specific to your situation — taxes, retirement planning, major life changes — talk to a licensed professional.
